आप जिन के क़रीब होते हैं
This ghazal has been written by Nooh Narvi, a renowned shayar, born in 1878 at Rae Bareli in UP. He died in 1962 at the age of 84. He was proficient in Persian and Arabic . He also learnt English. He is known for his distinct style of expressing difficult and varied emotions in simple words.
He was a disciple and successor of Dagh and is known for his spontaneity.

कम्बख़्त कभी जी से गुज़रने नहीं देती
जीने की तमन्ना मुझे मरने नहीं देती
अच्छे बुरे को वो अभी पहचानते नहीं
कमसिन हैं भोले-भाले हैं
कुछ जानते नहीं
अदा आई जफ़ा आई ग़ुरूर आया हिजाब आया
हज़ारों आफ़तें ले कर हसीनों पर शबाब आया
दिल के दो हिस्से जो कर डाले थे हुस्न-ओ-इश्क़ ने
एक सहरा बन गया और एक गुलशन हो गया
मिलना जो न हो तुम को तो कह दो न मिलेंगे
ये क्या कभी परसों है कभी कल है कभी आज
कहीं न उन की नज़र से नज़र किसी की लड़े
वो इस लिहाज़ से आँखें झुकाए बैठे हैं
आज आएँगे कल आएँगे
कल आएँगे आज आएँगे
मुद्दत से यही वो कहते हैं
मुद्दत से यही हम सुनते हैं
काबा हो कि बुत-ख़ाना हो
ऐ हज़रत-ए-वाइज़
जाएँगे जिधर आप
न जाएँगे उधर हम
This is a ghazal written in simple words but expresses the feelings of a lover succulently. It describes the dilemma of loving and knowing that it might lead to failure and a broken heart!
It has been sung beautifully by Pankaj Udhas in his soulful voice bringing out the essence of the feelings of the lover.
आप जिन के क़रीब होते हैं
वो बड़े ख़ुश-नसीब होते हैं
Those who are intimate with you,
are really very fortunate!
जब तबीअत किसी पर आती है
मौत के दिन क़रीब होते हैं
When one starts loving someone,
then days to death are numbered!
मुझ से मिलना फिर आप का मिलना
आप किस को नसीब होते हैं
Your meeting me and then meeting you again!
Who is so fortunate as to have you in his life?
ज़ुल्म सह कर जो उफ़ नहीं करते
उन के दिल भी अजीब होते हैं
Those who don’t even utter a sigh, in face of your cruelty,
They have a different type of heart, temperament!
इश्क़ में और कुछ नहीं मिलता
सैकड़ों ग़म नसीब होते हैं
Being in love gets you nothing in return!
Except hundreds of sorrows!!
'नूह' की क़द्र कोई क्या जाने
कहीं ऐसे अदीब होते हैं

Here is a treat for all music lovers! Anuradha Paudwal singing a ghazal with all her heart and demonstrating her huge talent although ghazal singing is not her forte. Note the aura created by these two artists.
The same ghazal has been sung by Sukhjinder and adds another dimension to the beauty of this simple but enchanting ghazal.
If there could a fourth dimension to ghazal singing here are Langas belting it out in their inimitable style and I hope multiplying your pleasure many fold.
